PDPU Second Extension Activity 6th march 2017

Here I am with one very interesting blog which is about our second EXTENSION ACTIVITY FEB-MARCH 2017 (Gandhinagar {Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University}, Shamlaji, Mount Abu).

This is our first day of this academic tour and we are in PDPU Gandhinagar, This University is established in 2007 through PDPU act, a legislature passed by Gujarat state assembly. The University is recognized by UGC (University Grants Commission) and is a member of AIU (Association of Indian Universities). This University had been accredited with grade “A” by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).

This University is ranked 55th in India and 1st in Gujarat by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). PDPU has also awarded Scientific and Institutional Research Organization (SIRO).

The University has four schools located in the same campus. The school included:

    1.    The School of Petroleum Technology
    2.  School of Technology
    3.  School of Petroleum Management
    4.  School of Liberal Studies

So first of all let me introduce what is Liberal Studies?

Liberal Studies is an additional course in arts subjects taken by the students studying for a qualification in science, technology or the humanities.
The purpose of the bachelor of Liberal Studies degree is to provide students with a solid multidisciplinary preparation in the humanities, Natural sciences, Social sciences and the arts, subsequently allowing then to pursue careers in education, business, government and other such fields.

Now let’s start with the sessions of the day. Today we had four parallel sessions:

                 i.            Introductory Session
ii.            Mug printing and glass printing Session
         iii.            Interdisciplinary Session
          iv.            Gender Challenges

These four parallel sessions were held under the guidance of experts and through this we learnt a lot many things for example what we can learn in Literature like Math, Science, Foreign language etc. In first session we got to know about the importance of IIC (Invention and Incubation Center).  In second session we got to know about that how we can do printing on mugs, T-shirts and also on many other things. Then in Third session we learnt that how we can read literature through different perspectives. And in last session which is gender challenges, there we got to know what the real meaning of FEMINISM?

There is a Slogan of PDPU Internship

“To need India, I need to feel India first”

  • First Session: Introductory Session

This session was an introductory session in which they give a brief introduction of the University. After this introductory session there is a session of IIC (Invention and Incubation Center) in which we got to know about that what the real meaning of an Innovation is and what is an Idea?
Innovation: This means implementing your ideas.
Idea: They are just thoughts. This can be creative thoughts also.

  • Second Session: Mug Printing and Glass Printing Session.

This session is very much interesting session because there we learnt how to print anything on Mugs, T-shirts and also on many more things. In this session we all enjoyed a lot because this session was all about “Learning with Fun”.

  • Third Session: Interdisciplinary Session

In this session we have five members in Panel. And all the members of the panel are expert in their own fields. Here are the names of the members of panel:

    1.    Dr. Pradip Malik – Professor (Media, Journalism and literature)
    2.  Dr. Sitakanta Mishra – Assistance Professor (International Relations)
    3.  Dr. Chatanya Vyas –Assistance Professor (Shakespeare –an Internship)
    4.  Dr. Harmik Vaishnav  - Assistance Professor (Moderator in Panel Discussion)

  • ·       Dr. Pradip Malik – Professor (Media, Journalism and literature):

Once a journalist for many years in Ahmedabad Newspaper “THE MIRROR” and now a full time professor in PDPU.
“Journalism is based on facts and fiction”
Journalism has add on Literature and Literature has add on Journalism.

  • ·       Dr. Sitakanta Mishra – Assistance Professor (International Relations)

It is all about Military and International relations. Pentagon is a Military section of America. Literature and Psychology is related to International relations. During session he discussed one GAZAL  here are the lyrics of that gazal:

Laazim hai ki hum bhi dekhenge
Woh din jiskaa ke waada hai,
Jo lau-e-azl mein likha hai
Jab zulm-o-sitam ke koh-e-garaan
Rooi ki tarah udd jaayenge,
Hum mehkoomon ke paaon tale
jab dharti dhad dhad dhadkegi,
Aur ahl-e-hukam ke sar oopar
Jab bijli kad kad kadkegi,
Jab arz-e-khudaa ke kaabe se
Sab but uthwaaey jaayenge,
Hum ahl-e-safaa mardood-e-haram
Masnad pe bithaaey jaayenge.
Sab taaj uchaaley jaayenge.
Sab takht giraaey jayyenge.
Bas naam rahega Allah kaa,
Jo ghaayab bhi hai, haazir bhi,
Jo manzar bhi hai, naazir bhi.
Utthegaa ‘An-al-haq' kaa naara
Jo main bhi hoon, aur tum bhi ho,
Aur raaj karegi Khalq-e-Khuda
Jo mai bhi hoon, aur tum bhi ho.

Through this he explained Literature can reach where some cannot reach and Pakistani society with some very interesting examples.
Shakespeare was not writing for writing sake but he was writing only for money because he was not from very good financial background.

  • Fourth Session: Gender Challenges

In this session we have three members in panel. And all the members of the panel are expert in Gender studies. Here are the names of the members of panel:

    1.    Ms. Neeta Khurana –Assistance Professor
    2.  Ms. Niyati Trivedi – Lecturer
    3.  Dr. Urmi Satyam –Assistance Professor

This session is all about gender studies that what is feminism? What is Patriarchal society? What is structure of hararchy? What is Hetronormative?

Feminism is all about the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.

Patriarchy is all about male dominated society.

Hetronormative is all about people who are against LGBT.

At the time of session she showed one video of DEEPIKA PADUKONE’s “My Choice” which is directed by HOMI ADAJANIA.

Here I am attaching that video which she showed us in Parallel session.

Through this video she gave us an actual meaning of feminism.
At the end I would like to say that after attending this session we all are very much attentive about literature and it’s various types.
