MYTH OF PHELOMELA


“Ode to Nightingale” is a story of two sisters. One of them married the king and starts living with him in his kingdom. After some time she wanted to meet her sister(Phelomela) and king also allowed her to meet her sister. Pronce(elder one) bring Phelomela with her. King(husband of Pronce) founds Phelomela very beautiful and he raped her. Phelomela wanted to share her pain with anyone but king cut out her tongue so she could not tell anyone what happened with her. King told his wife that her sister was dead. But in real Phelomela was alive. Pronce had doubt on her husband hat he is lying with her. She starts find her sister. While searching her sister she met an old women who knows about Phelomela. That old women took Pronce to her sister Phelomela. After seeing her she got to know about all the painful incident of her sister. Pronce decided to take revenge of it from her husband of his sin. Pronce and king they both blessed with a baby boy, she killed her son and serves it in meal to king. Pronce bring Phelomela with her. Phelomela appeared in front of king and after this king tried to kill  both sisters. But before he could kill them the God transformed them all in birds. King became a ‘hawk’, Phelomela became ‘nightingale’ and Pronce became ‘swallow’.
